“Get the hell out of here.”

By neener | March 1, 2008

I don’t know if that’s a new addition to Donald Trump’s usual “You’re fired” line, but he’s been using it in most of The Celebrity Apprentice episodes. Hopefully he’ll stop saying it soon because it’s tacky and really uncalled for. Also, because I think of this video when I hear that phrase:

I’ll dedicate a post to what’s been up all week soon, but I just caught up with a few shows I DVRed while out of town Thursday.

Survivor was the first show to shock me when the Fans decided to kick out one of the very few physically strong men on the team. I think it’s a little too early in the game, but what do I know? I just watch the game. Wait, they did too.

I watched enough of the American Idol elimination show to know that one of my ponies, Alaina Whitaker, was voted out. America, why not Rocker Nurse or Britney Impersonator??? Seriously? Alaina is young and maybe a little inexperienced, but I think if we had given her more time, she would’ve been a memorable finalist. Oh well, kudos for the rest of the elimination choices. I won’t have to endure Sir Karaoke Smiles-A-Lot or Redneck Rocker any longer.

Finally, I watched The Celebrity Apprentice which was slightly anticlimactic. I guess because it a cut-and-dry choice. It’s weird, this season has been full of either cut-and-dry cases or long drawn out drama sessions. Not sure what to think, but if Trace Adkins doesn’t win, I will cry a little inside. If Omarosa or Piers wins, I will cry a lot outside.

Wide awake.

The past week or so has been interesting, no doubt. Dress shopping with Mandy, celebrated D’s birthday, hit up a Stars game for Hambone’s birthday, made my first gingerbread house with JB and currently awaiting for my new TV to arrive.

Throughout all the festivities, my mind has been all over the place. Most of the thoughts have been self-centered thoughts which is probably why I feel a bit unstable. No solid foundation. “The valley? Again? When is the last time I’ve hit a mountain peak?” I can feel growth, but I know it is stunted. I’m being very vague, but that’s how I feel at the moment.

But I just wanted to update for the sake of updating. Probably the most exciting news to you is that Denise is in the final four of Survivor. Guess we’ll find out Sunday night if I’ll have to sport a mullet sometime soon.

Denise

A bet with a mullet.

Early Friday evening while watching Survivor: China for the second time (a friend had not seen it yet), I remembered Frosti’s last words as he was beaten by “a tiny flight attendant, a sassy New York waitress and a lady with a mullet.” Word vomit occurred as I chucked out, “If Denise wins, I will wear a mullet for a week!” Although I did not say it with much boldness, my friend Jenna picked up on it and within seconds typed up a contract which made my statement official. I signed it as well as my two witnesses.

I don’t plan on going back on my words and am feeling quite good that Denise (although an enjoyable character) will not win the Survivor million. If she does win, well, I guess I’ll share the results. Good luck, Denise!

During most seasons I don’t watch a lot of TV. I’ll usually have one show or two that I’m partially committed to, but thanks to recent crazy drama shows, Blockbuster Online, and On Demand, I’ll say TV is slowly winning its way back into my heart. Or back into my “free, i should be doing something productive, time.” Inspired by Emily B., here is a preview of shows I hope to keep up with. Armed with my computer as my TiVO, there’s no stopping me this fall!

Lost - Season 3, October 4th (Wed, 8pm) - It started out one afternoon in Lubbock. My buds, Em D and Beach, decided to spend all afternoon watching one disc of Lost. I had heard of all the hype around this show, so I spent the afternoon with them. Five hours later, I was hooked for good. I will be on the second disc of season two soon, so don’t fill me in yet!

Grey’s Anataomy - Season 3, September 21st (Thurs, 8pm) - This, too, started in Lubbock in that same house with those same friends and then some. It had to grow on me, but now I’m renting the past seasons like crazy to catch up. I didn’t think anything could match up to ER, but this one has just enough insane-o drama to keep me interested. Everybody loves an affair! Yes?

Nip/Tuck - Season 4, September 5th (Tues, 9pm) - Speaking of insane-o drama, this one probably takes the cake. This show is so sick and twisted that I can’t look away. Sex, surgeons, and now scientology? It’s a guilty pleasure, I know.

Survivor: Cook Islands - Season 13, September 14th (Thurs, 7pm) - Battle of the races. Who’s not going to tune in? African-Americans, Latinos, Asians, and Caucasians — ohhhh man, will I pull for my fellow Asians or the white man that always seems to be just sneaky and knieving enough!

Other shows I might keep up with:
30 Rock - Season 1, October 11th (Wed, 7pm) - I think Tina Fey is funny. So naturally, I hope that this will be funny too.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - Season 1, September 18th (Mon, 9pm) - I hear it’ll give Tina Fey a run for her money since they both deal with similar subjects and have somewhat of an all-star cast.
Friday Night Lights - Season 1, October 3rd (Tues, 7pm) - I grew up in Stephenville, Texas, where high school football is king. We’ll see where this goes.

Anybody have any suggestions to add? What are you guys going to watch?
